CED2313 | Teaching of Literature in ESL Classrooms | This course reviews traditional approaches to the teaching of literature. There will be discussion on the place of literature in ESL learning and teaching. Students will also be exposed to principles of material selection in literature and class management. Treatment of the different literary genres for purposes of incorporation into language teaching will be discussed. |
CED2243 | Teaching of Grammar | The aim of the course is to provide an overview of the English Language usage. It seeks to review, remedy and consolidate the students’ grammatical competence. It is designed to develop student teachers’ skills in the teaching of grammar. It suggests to prospective teachers a wide variety of approaches and techniques to teach grammar effectively. |
CED2254 | Teaching of Reading | This course enables students to be aware of the importance of good reading skills in order to help them become good learners. Among others, students will be exposed to reading techniques which apply to both reading for pleasure and also reading and understanding academic texts. However, emphasis will be given to reading texts of academic nature. In addition, this course exposes students to teaching approaches, methods and techniques to enable them to be effective teachers, in particular in teaching reading in English as a Second Language classroom. |
