OUM’s Bachelor of English Studies (Hons.) is a unique cross-disciplinary programme that covers language, cultural studies and communication. What learners can expect to gain from this rigorous programme is not simply an improved command of the English language.
More importantly, learners will acquire the following knowledge and skills of value in graduate employment: advanced subject knowledge of the structure, levels and discourse functions of the English language
- the capacity to analyse and critically examine diverse forms of discourse
- the ability to handle information and argument in a critical and self-reflective manner
- the ability to present sustained and persuasive written and oral arguments cogently and coherently.

Entry Requirements
Normal Entry
- Passed: SPM/SPMV/MCE or equivalent with 2 credits including English; AND
- Passed: STPM/HSC or equivalent with at least 2 principals (CGPA 2.00); OR
- Passed: a recognized Diploma; OR
- Passed: a recognized Matriculation certficate; OR
- Passed: a Teaching certificate from teacher training college; OR
- Passed: a Polytechnic certificate; OR
- Lower qualifications approved by Senate with at least 5 years related working experience.
Flexible Entry
- Be at least 21 years old on 1st of January(application year); AND
- Passed at least PMR or equivalent; AND
- Passed Flexible Entry Assessment; AND
- Possess prior learning experience OR knowledge relevant to the programme applied.
