This programme is designed to equip students with a sound understanding of fundamental theories and concepts in mechanical engineering, primarily the scientific knowledge to solve challenges and design systems in automotive, power generation, aerospace and manufacturing industries, to elevate our quality of life.

Through this programme, students will able to construct and evaluate alternative design concepts, undertake detailed engineering analysis and mechanical design as well as manufacture prototypes and evaluate its performance.

Students will be instilled with technical proficiency and industry knowledge, as well as the ability to apply theories into practical and feasible innovations, in a multidisciplinary environment.

Focus on Core Expertise

  • =In-depth knowledge and skills on designing and analysing mechanical components, machines and systems via modules such as Theory of Machines & Mechanisms, Design of Engineering Components & Systems, and Computer Aided Engineering & Geometric Modeling.
  • In-depth knowledge and understanding regarding heat, energy and fluid flow via modules such as Thermodynamics & Heat Transfer, Engineering Fluid Mechanics and Internal Combustion Engines & Emission.
  • Acquire knowledge of manufacturing processes and production technologies as well as operating and managing complex production systems via modules such as Manufacturing Engineering and Automatic Control & Instrumentation.

Multidisciplinary Exposure

  • Exposure to electrical and electronic engineering modules for a better understanding of the design and application of electrical and electronic circuitry in systems.
  • Cultivate business-minded engineers through exposure to business management modules such as Business Skills for Engineers and Managing Projects for Success.

Engineered for the Real World

  • Ability to develop and improve solutions catered to consumers’ needs through various engineering design modules.
  • Ability to apply the CDIO™ Framework to engineering processes and systems, taking into consideration functionality, safety, cost effectiveness and sustainability.

Dynamic Internship Programme

  • 12-week industrial training to develop practical and relevant skills for future employment.

  • Apply the knowledge of mathematics, science, engineering practices, innovation techniques, entrepreneurship and ergonomics to provide value-adding solutions to complex chemical engineering challenges.
  • Use a structured approach for identifying, formulating, analysing and documenting complex engineering challenges to arrive at viable solutions and substantiated conclusions.
  • Conceive, Design, Implement and Operate solutions for complex engineering challenges that meet specified requirements with appropriate consideration for public health and safety, cultural, societal, environmental and economical considerations.
  • Conduct research and investigation into complex challenges using the Scientific Method for knowledge discovery.
  • Create, select and apply appropriate techniques, resources, and modern engineering and IT tools, including prediction and modelling, to complex engineering activities, with an awareness of the accompanying assumptions and limitations.
  • Apply reasoning informed by contextual knowledge to assess societal, health, safety, legal, economical and cultural issues and the consequent responsibilities relevant to professional engineering practice.
  • Aware of the global impact of professional engineering solutions in societal, economical and environmental contexts and demonstrate knowledge of and need for sustainable development.

Entry Requirements:

  • Taylor’s Foundation in Engineering (FIE) : Pass with min. CGPA 2.00
  • Taylor’s Foundation in Science (FIS) : Pass with min. CGPA 2.67 (only applicable to Engineering Science option)
  • Sijil Tinggi Persekolahan Malaysia (STPM) : CCC with min. CGPA 2.00 including Mathematics and Physics
  • Unified Examination Certificate (UEC) : 5Bs with max. 25 points in 5 subjects including Mathematics and Physics
  • A Levels: Min. CCD / 220 points including Mathematics and Physics
  • South Australian Matriculation (SAM): ATAR 70 with min. C in Mathematics (preferably Specialist Mathematics) and Physics
  • Canadian Pre-University (CPU): Average of 66% in 6 subjects including Advanced Functions, Calculus and Vectors, and Physics
  • International Baccalaureate (IB): Min. 28 points in 6 subjects including Mathematics and Physics
  • Other Qualifications: Students with other qualifications will be considered on a case-by-case basis

English Requirements:
