The Diploma in Product Design is a programme that develops student’s capability in three-dimentional design. We are surrounded by products – from the watch on your wrist and the furniture in your house to the car you drive. Product design also known as industrial design, is a subjects that allows you to conceptualise and design new consumer electronics – such as hand phones, audio and multimedia products – has created opportunities for designers who are able to generate new, innovative and creative ideas that can successfully compare internationally.
A product designer gives form and function to a product. He gives a product an identity that can communicate to the customer and provide a specific function. Student will gain and understanding of form and function, colour, market research and consumer demand, new technology, material and cultural studies. Students are exposed to a wide range of international projects ranging from electronic consumer products, furniture, lighting to toy design and packaging. Student will learn to execute projects in a professional manner from presentation sketches, research reports, visuals, computer generated 3D model and actual prototypes.
Student will also learn the technical side of the manufacturing and materials in order to produce practical design. Many of the project work directly with industry to give student practical exposure to ‘live’ project and they require skills and knowledge to enter into the global design network.
