Program Description

Programme Objective:

To develop experts who have the capability of performing and implementing Knowledge Management within industries, organizations, and society.

Learning Outcomes

• Ability to identify basic tactical components in the development of Knowledge Management applications, strategies, processes and economic evaluations on the effectiveness of KM. Related subjects: KM Application, Strategic KM I, Strategic KM II, and k-Project Management.These subjects will describe and discuss the essential means and methods in developing and implementing Knowledge Management system and initiatives.
• Ability to define and utilize the relationship between the concepts of management, communication and learning processes, with Knowledge Management. Related subjects: Human Communication & Knowledge Management, History & Concepts of KM, and Organizational Learning.The subjects will describe the importance of the relationship between the concept of Knowledge Management, with the elements of organizational communication, the historical evaluation of KM in the context of corporate and institutional management, and also with the learning process at an individual, group and management level within an organization.
• Ability to identify and apply related multimedia and ICT applications in the area of KM as a means of disseminating and sharing of valuable knowledge, in addition to the capability to supervise and manage KM system related tasks. Related subjects:Multimedia & IT, Interactive Multimedia Development, Multimedia Programming, and Web Programming.The subjects will provide students with the essential elements of multimedia and Information and Communication Technologies (ICT), which have a high relevancy with KM. All the terms, tools as well as process and design will be exposed to the students for them to develop the necessary skills and ability.
• Ability to analyze and designing a database system where data and information can be creatively manipulated in the process of knowledge creation, and discover the benefits of it in the enhancement of electronic industries. Related subjects:Database System & System Analysis/Design, and e-KM.These subjects will introduce and discuss aspects of database systems, and provide the students with concepts and skills needed to analyze and design information systems. Students will also gain a practical guide to the use of KM in the existing multiple electronic environments.
• Ability to demonstrate a clear understanding of research and development principles and procedures, which deals with both the theoretical and practical aspects of academic research including quantitative and qualitative methods, through an individual research project. Related subjects:Research Method and Project. The subject will challenge students in their ability to carry out a research, application or case study project under the supervision of an academic staff member. The topic or research questions will be formulated by the student and approved by the supervisor. Students will need to complete an individual research project which should reflect their understanding of the current philosophy of research and the implications for research activity.

• Admission Requirements

  • Candidates admitted into the Programme shall possess the following minimum qualification: Download Brochure
  • In addition to the academic requirements, an applicant is also required to possess a sufficient level of English language proficiency.

  English level Requirement

  An applicant is required to possess a sufficient level of English language proficiency by obtaining one of the following:

  • a minimum overall TOEFL score of 551 (paper based) or 237 (computer based) or 92 (internet based) ; or
  • a minimum IELTS (academic) overall band score of 6.5; or
  • a credit in 1119 English Examination; or
  • a minimum score of 551 in Multimedia Universitys English Language Proficiency Test
  • a minimum MUET overall band score of 4; or
  • any other qualification which is of equivalent level as determined by the Senate of the University.

  All applicants must fulfill the English language requirement in order to be admitted to the approved programme.The Faculty may interview the candidates who have obtained their Bachelor’s or Masters degrees from institution, where English is used as the main medium of instruction or as one of the mediums of instruction and recommend to the Senate for waiver.An English Language Proficiency test will be conducted to gauge their proficiency level of the candidates who do not meet the English Language requirement and fail the English interview (if applicable).
  Candidates who fail to meet the English Language requirement may enroll into the Intensive English Language Programme (IELP) offered by MMU in the month of February, June or October every year.

  Minimum Entry Requirement

  •  a Bachelor’s Degree with Honours with CGPA of  2.00 and above from MMU or equivalent from another recognized University; or
  •  any other academic qualifications equivalent to (a), as approved by the Senate.
  • An applicant with non-honours degree may be considered, if he has attained a GRE /GMAT score (General test and at least one of the Subject Test) that is acceptable to the respective Faculty.
