The QIUP Bachelor of Accountancy (Hons) programme is a four-year full time, and six-year part time programme which was designed with a specific purpose in mind, to prepare its graduates to become the managers of value.
The curriculum content has been enriched with inputs derived from professional accounting syllabi such as those of MIA, ACCA, CIMA and CPA (Australia), students are thus assured of quality and affordable education that not only will prepare them for the working environment, but also for further studies at both professional and post graduate levels.
The QIUP Bachelor of Accountancy (Hons) programme is unique in the sense that the focus of the programme is on the applications of the theoretical framework of accountancy, rather than the theoretical framework itself. This is in line with the needs of the industry for technically competent, multi-tasking fresh accounting graduates, ready for the job market.
Students in the programme will gain valuable hands-on experience through attachments to industry and businesses in a staggered manner as part of their practical training.
The following courses make up the Bachelor of Accountancy (Hons) (PA 1732) programme curriculum.
Full-Time: the bi-semester programme is taught over a period of four years.
Part-Time: the tri-semester programme is taught over a period of six years.
Students’ ability is gauged both through continuous assessment and a final year exam. The continuous assessment comprises tests/quizzes, mid-semester examinations and projects/assignments which accounts for an allocation of about 40%-50% of the coursework marks. The balance of the marks is allocated for the final examination.
