Bachelor of Legal Studies (Honours) (BLS (Hons)) is a three-year programme (6 semesters) that prepares graduates for the legal field. The programme is designed to provide the knowledge of law, soft skills and attitude needed to excel in the legal profession. The graduate of this programme will become the feeder for UiTM’s Bachelor of Laws (Hons) (LL.B(Hons) programme, the one-year professional course that provides for hands on knowledge in legal field. To be eligible to practice as an Advocate and Solicitor, BLS(Hons) programme must undergo and obtain a degree in LL.B(Hons) or pass the Certificate in Legal Practice (CLP). Through a wide range of electives, students can choose courses with a multidisciplinary focus to enhance their knowledge as well as their own interest and career plans.
Student exchange programmes with foreign universities in Australia, United Kingdom and other Commonwealth countries allow students to enrich their legal education through the exposure to other legal systems and cultures.
The students of this programme are not exposed only to the knowledge of law. They are also encouraged to get involved in club activities organized by societies and clubs within the Faculty. Once registered into this programme, the students will automatically become the member of the Law Society (LAWSOC). The Lawsoc and other clubs will offer students the opportunity to engage in extra-curricular activities like Law Games, Professional Seminars and Legal Clinic to develop social responsibility, leadership skills and to interact with the legal profession and the society at large.
This programme is offered only at the Shah Alam campus of Universiti Teknologi Mara.
Students must fulfill the General entry requirement of the university and the specific requirement of the programme.
a. Obtained minimum CGPA 3.00 in STPM / equivalent with grade B (GPA 3.00) in three (3) subjects including General Paper
AND
Pass SPM/equivalent with credit of a minimum 3B for English and grade 6C in Mathematics/Additional Mathematics OR Obtained CGPA minimum 3.00 in Asasi UITM/PASUM/Matriculation with grade B (GPA 3.00) in three (3) subjects
AND
b. Pass SPM/equivalent with credit of a minimum 3B for English and grade 6C in Mathematics/Additional Mathematics
OR
c. Diploma from UiTM with a CGPA of 2.5 (place are limited and according to merit)
OR
d. Obtained Asasi Undang-Undang UiTM with the minimum CGPA 3.00;
AND
e. All must registered for MUET and achieved the minimum requirement for MUET Band 4

LS (Hons) degree holders have a wide choice of employment opportunities. The graduates can opt to join the government services in various positions in the custom departments, labour offices, social service departments. They can also be employed as diplomatic administrators and serve various posts in the government ministries. They can also join the private sector as Legal Advisors, Bank Officers or legal executives.
BLS (Hons) degree holders are given the opportunity to continue their studies in the Bachelor of Laws (Hons) programme for one year (2 semesters). Upon achieving the degree in LL.B(Hons), they can proceed to do their pupilage and thereafter, to practice law. BLS(Hons) graduates can also opt to do their Certificate of Legal Practice (CLP) instead of joining the LL.B(Hons) programme. They can also pursue their post graduate studies to obtain a degree of Master in Laws (LL.M) at UiTM and at other universities if they choose to acquire advanced knowledge in any field of the law.
