Programme Description
In this programme students gain, develop and demonstrate the knowledge, understanding and skills of BA (HONS) in Interior Architecture and Design. We focus on the creative improvement of existing and new buildings and spaces. Students will learn about how the objects and spaces that make up our everyday landscapes provide pleasure, give meaning to and can enhance the quality of people’s lives. Students will develop an understanding of how people and activities interact with the material, environmental, sensual, emotional, functional and cultural qualities of a specific space and situation and how interior architects can design better places.

Entry Requirements
Pass SPM / O-Levels / UEC or equivalent

by MQA and NARIC, UK

Note:
**Students must satisfy the stipulated English requirement before pursuing the University of Hertfordshire Degree programme at The One Academy.
**Upon completion of the TOA Diploma Programme in the related field, students will be exempted to 2nd year of 3+0 UK Degree Programme. Assessments in academic writing skills and additional semester may be required to satisfy pre-requisites for Degree Studies.
Course Structure
Foundation Year
- Building skills and knowledge to prepare for Interior Architecture and Design programmes of Years 1 – 3.
- Learning to self-manage academic development.
Year One
- Intensive introduction to the knowledge, skills and techniques of Interior Architecture and Design (IAD).
- Learn how to observe, analyse, represent and communicate the qualities of existing spaces.
- Problem-solving skills.
- Adapt and improve existing buildings and spaces, generating ideas from a creative and critical engagement with occupation, material form and properties, site context and culture.
- Emphasis on understanding and developing proficiency in a wide range of design, representational and communication techniques, including hand drawings, collages, technical drawings, physical model making, 2D CAD and basic Photoshop.
- Introduced to the basics of materiality, construction and detailing.
Year Two
- Encouraged to engage with some key contemporary issues.
- Concentrates on design detail and considers how designers should respond to the specificity of a particular site, client and context.
- Adaptation and transformation of the existing built fabric across both inside and outside spaces.
- Explore the importance of ideas surrounding context, identity, performance and narrative in the design of space.
Year Three
- Embrace materials and manufacturing protocols to widen their vocabulary of the discipline.
- Find intelligent and effective solutions to current economic and social problematic.
- Look into the working world in terms of career opportunities.
