AIMST University now offers a Master of Science in Medical Physiology. The programme is designed to enable graduates to acquire and demonstrate: Acceptable level of understanding of the structure and functioning of the human body, aptitude for research in a field related to the discipline of medical physiology, aptitude to teach physiology to undergraduate students in the professions and for pursuing evidence-informed physiology education, high standards of professional conducts and aptitude for continuous professional development. |

Year 1 |
Introduction to Health Professional [1 Credit, MQF Level 7] and Medical Physiology [a composite of 9 taught module with lab components; 20 Core Credits at MQF Level 7]; the 9 Core Modules are: General and Cellular Basis of Medical Physiology, Physiology of Nerve and Muscle, Hematology & Immunology, Gastrointestinal Physiology, Endocrinology & Reproduction, Cardiovascular Physiology, Pulmonary Physiology, Renal and Acid-Base Physiology |

Research Methods, Biostatistics & Ethics (taught module; 2.5 Credits); Research Projects (16 Credits); Seminar on Advanced Topics & Journal Club (0.5 Credit), Training in Teaching & Assessment; Electives (1 Credits) [all at MQF Level 7] |

Foundation Programme
This programme consists of three taught modules : Fundamentals in Humans Anatomy, Human Physiology and Medical Biochemistry [total 15 Core Credits at Malaysian Qualification Framework (MQF) Level 6]. The Foundation Programme is optional for those whose entry qualification is MBBS, BDS, B.Pharm, B.Nursing or B. Biomedical Sciences; candidates whose primary qualification is not one of the above degrees must undergo this programme. |
Assessment
There is an examination at the end of the Foundation Programme, 3 theory papers and a practical examination at the end of Year1, one written paper in Research Methods and Biostatistics in Year 2. Successful completing of a report of research projects and defence of this projects is also required for graduation. |

Dates and Deadlines
• One signed hard copy of the application and enclosures required complete in all respects must be received
by the Friday of the first week of August each year (for those qualified to directly enter Year 1 of this
programme, see Entry Requirement above) and by the Friday of the first week of December each year
(for those qualified to directly enter Year 1 of this Programme)
• Foundation Programme commences in mid-August each year
• Year 1 Medical Physiology Programme commences in the first week of January each year |
