Programme Description
What is Pharmacy?
Pharmacy is a branch of health sciences dealing with the preparation, dispensing and proper utilization of medicines. It is a health profession that links the health sciences with the chemical sciences, and it is charged with ensuring the safe and effective use of medication.
What does a pharmacy technician do?
The role of a Pharmacy Technician is to dispense medication from doctors to patients and acting as advisors on the proper consumption of prescribed medication with supervising pharmacist. In addition, they are in charge of setting up equipment and keeping track of stock & supplies in the laboratories. |
Introduction to the course:
The course was designed in view of the need to prepare future pharmacy assistants with the knowledge and skills to become successful practitioners in their field.

Hospital Training:
Students are given real clinical exposure within the departments of outpatient setting, inpatient settings among others. |

MODE OF DELIVERY
This programme is designed for 3 years following a semester system, consisting of 2 regular (long) semesters and 1 short semester. During the final year students have hospital placements and are subjected to the actual pharmacy conditions of preparing and dispensing.
Delivery of the curriculum is mainly in the form of lectures, tutorials, and practical sessions. Students will be exposed to hands-on clinical sessions, demonstrations and presentations during hospital attachments and are subjected to the actual clinical condition of patients
ADMISSION / ENTRY REQUIREMENTS
Applicants should have the following: |

SPM/O-Level with credits, including one of which is science related subject |

STPM graduates are encouraged to apply. |

Aged 17 years and above. |

Must be in good physical condition. |
