Programme Description
Illustration major is a 3-year course comprising 9 semesters. The first year of your diploma programme consist of studio work augmented by slide lectures, demonstrations, field trips and critiques. In these courses, students learn to manipulate the principles and elements of art while developing technical skills with various tools and media. This enables students to expand their critical thinking and deepen their understanding of visual language, which can be applied to concepts and materials encountered in major programs and in the professional world. The second year of coursework provides an understanding of the closely related fields of illustration especially into the entertainment design and comic drawing field, in order to broaden students’ career potential and creative scope. At graduate level, students build on their existing skills to reach a higher level of professionalism. Graduate students create a substantial body of work, producing comprehensive portfolios in preparation for career in the art design and entertainment industries. In addition, the illustration department also hosts prominent illustrators, art directors and artist representatives as guest speakers to enable students to have the opportunity to gain real-world experience knowledge.
This course is available at both the Sunway and Penang campuses.
