Programme Description
Health Information Management deals with the business side of medicine, combining both health and information technology disciplines. The management of information is critical to ensure quality care throughout the health system. This program is a challenging profession involving the application of clinical knowledge, aspects of information technology, database management and administration. Health records serve as a database for health care planning and management decisions, legal and administrative purpose, research, identifying trends for the treatment of disease and for evaluating the standards and quality of patient care.
- Pass SPM/SPMV/O-Level with 3 credits including any one of Science Subject (Biologi,Fizik, Kimia or Sains) and Matematik;
Or
- Pass Certificate in related field with minimum CGPA of 2.5 from any institutions that are recognized by the Malaysian Government;
And
- Pass in English and Bahasa Melayu or its equivalent (Malaysian applicants)

Courses of study
This three years program in Health Information Management is designed to develop the skills necessary for an individual to collect, maintain, manage and secure health information in an ever changing Healthcare Industry.
The program includes structured as well as practical experience in a healthcare setting. Courses include studies in the areas of biomedical sciences, computer sciences and information technology, health information science, classification systems and coding, data analysis and presentation, epidemiology, statistics, ethics, and healthcare law.
Health Information Management Professionals are trained in the collection and analysis of health data and provide information that is used by clinicians, hospital management,government agencies and researchers. They are uniquely knowledgeable concerning health information privacy issues, data security and the legislation associated with personal health information and they are a vital resource in the development of the electronic health record and the intra-operable health record.
