PFS 2243 | Money and Capital Market | Review of knowledge in money market, security market, bond, foreign exchange market and future contract. Also focusing on function of central bank rest of the world and also makes them familiar with the real world of money and capital market transaction. |
PFS 2163 | Financial Risk Management | This course gives an overview of the many technical resources required and foster an understanding of risks and the methods used to manage those selective risks. |
PFS 3263 | Financial Statement Analysis | It emphasizes the evaluation of financial statements, cash flows, and ratio analysis of individuals and businesses. Additional emphasis is placed on comparative analyses and the evaluation of industry standards. Topics include ratio analysis, interpretation of the balance sheet, income statement and statement of cash flows, account classifications, income measurement, time value of money and capital budgeting decisions. Heavy emphasis on analytical interpretation of ratios. |
PFS 3173 | Corporate Risk Management | Review of knowledge and skills that required for them to understand the concepts of the corporate risk management, the framework in analyzing the risk that may occur among the corporations as well as its application in various aspects and application of risk management techniques and applying the core conceptual framework to real corporate risk situations. |
PFS 3273 | Financial Institution and Banking | Review of knowledge and skills that required for them to understand the concepts of the banking management, the framework, the importance of banking system within a country, and direct relations to overall financial activities either supporting or making financial activities, providing basic idea on how financial institutions works and area of focus for improvement. |
PFS 3243 | International Finance | This course concerns all the elements that affect the finances of a company when it crosses an international border. When it does so, many factors change. The financial system, the legal environment will probably be quite different. The currency changes. Regulatory problems as well as problems associated with ownership and changes in ownership of listed companies may occur. This course has three parts. The first part covers the basic structure of foreign exchange markets, the factors that influent foreign exchanges rates, and the relationship between
foreign exchange rates and interest rates. The second part covers the analytical framework for assessing a corporation’s various exposures to foreign exchanges. It also offers an in-depth discussion on the financial instruments such as foreign currency denominated debt and currency swaps that can be used to mitigate or completely eliminates the foreign exchange risks. The last part of the course covers the estimation of cost of capital from both the home currency and foreign currency’s perspective and the appropriate cost of capital for making global investment decisions such as merger and acquisition and relocation of production facilities. It also touches upon some basic accounting treatments for foreign investments. |
PFS 2143 | Corporate Finance | This course gives exposure to students on knowledge and skills in corporate finance. Topics in this course, such as capital budgeting, capital structure, and dividend policy furnish them with technical, analytical, and deductive skills which would enable them to integrate formal academic learning with finance related experiential training to relate to the market needs. Other topics such as securities valuation, and merger & acquisitions, help students to apply concepts they had learnt in other finance related subjects. |
PFS 2323 | Investment Analysis | Review of basic investment fundamentals, managerial approach to investing, strategic investing decision making, practical of investing, current issues and surrounding environment to investing community, standardization of investing mechanicals and vehicles globally. |
PFS 3253 | Seminar in Finance | This course introduces students to theoretical research in finance and investment. The emphasis will be on incomplete information models, though a few models driven by other considerations will also be studied. The first part of the course will focus on the case studies about the fundamentals of finance and investment theory (e.g., the theory of the firm’s choice of its capital structure and dividend policy under alternative assumptions). The second part of the course will focus on the development of research paper on important related topics which students will have to present at the end at the semester. |
