Programme Objectives

• To develop educators who posses skills and knowledge to teach different categories of learning needs according to basic functional skills as well as specializing in one area of disability or special needs.
• To develop educators who are skilful in assessing and evaluating individual learning abilities and able to develop and implement the Individual Education Plan.
• To develop special educators who are skilful, knowledgeable and posses the required suitable attitude for education and rehabilitation according to different settings.
• To train efficient special education teachers at the undergraduate level.
• To develop special educators who are knowledgeable on current issues, trends and practices, research in special needs education.
• To develop educators who are able to advocate students with special needs. To develop educators who specialize in special teaching pedagogy and able to teach a learning subject according to their chosen discipline.

Courses Synopsis For Bachelor of Education with Honours(Special Education)

This course examines the characteristics of children with special needs according to various categories. The focus will be on the definition of various disabilities, the etiology of the disabilities, the prevalence, and the developmental profile according to the intra and inter individual differences which include cognitive developmental characteristics, language as well as communication and social adjustment. Focus will also be made on the comparisons of the normal development with the atypical development and also on issues related to diagnosis and ecological assessment suitable for each special need.
