About the course

Course Description:

This degree provides a thorough understanding of business principles specific to marketing. Students are taught the significance of marketing in the wider business context. The course explores how business results are achieved through the development and endorsement of a strategic customer focus. Students learn about buyer behaviour, marketing metrics, planning, branding, advertising and market research.

Aims & Objectives:

In addition to the university’s graduate attributes, Bachelor of Commerce (Marketing) graduates will be:

  • knowledgeable in all aspects of marketing, so as to effectively manage customers
  • able to evaluate marketing alternatives and to confidently propose effective and creative business solutions
  • able to communicate and apply business solutions in a credible, articulate and confident manner to various stakeholders
  • cognisant of the social, legal, ethical and global complexities in marketing

 

Course Structure:

For completion of the Bachelor of Commerce (Marketing) students are required to complete a total of 24 units of study (300 credit points) consisting of:

  • A Marketing professional major consisting of 16 units (200 credit points); and
  • Eight (8) additional units that can be undertaken either as a co-major (8 units), two minors (4 units each), or pathways credit; and
  • The not-for-credit unit, HBG0004 Careers in the Curriculum
  • Students may select co-majors or minors subject to timetable availability.
