Programme Description

This programme will provides you with a solid grounding in the design, construction and management of civil engineering works and equip you with the technical knowledge, communication skills and ability to operate as a civil engineer within the construction industry. Graduates will not only be multi-talented but also versatile in nature.

This programme is designed to :

• equip graduates with sufficient knowledge and competency in various areas in civil engineering;
• equip graduates with professional attributes to ensure they are readily adaptable to the global work environment;
• prepare graduates for work in the development of infrastructure.

Graduates of this programme are expected to demonstrate the following abilities :

• ability to acquire and apply knowledge of science and civil engineering fundamentals;
• ability to critically identify, formulate and solve civil engineering problems;
• ability to apply skills, tools and techniques in contemporary civil engineering disciplines;
• ability to design civil engineering systems, components or processes to meet the needs and demands of the profession;
• ability to communicate effectively;
• ability to apply social, cultural, global and environmental responsibilities of a professional engineer and ensure sustainable development;
• ability to acquire and commit to professional and ethical responsibilities; ability to function effectively as an individual or a leader or a manager in a team to achieve common goals;
• ability to acquire IT competencies, business acumen and embark in entrepreneurship; and
• ability to conduct research and engage in lifelong learning.

Professional recognition

This programme is accredited by the Engineering Accreditation Council (EAC) and recognized by the Malaysian Government. EAC is a delegated body by the Board of Engineers Malaysia (BEM) as the only recognized accrediting body for engineering degree programmes offered in Malaysia.

This degree is also internationally recognised under the Washington Accord, a multi-national agreement which recognises the substantial equivalency of engineering degree programmes accredited by the responsible bodies in each of the current signatory countries.
