Description

The UOG BA (Hons) Business Psychology programme is designed for those who are interested in psychology and want to explore how it can be useful in a general business context. Graduates of this degree will not become a qualified occupational psychologist, but will have a higher level knowledge of psychology and the ability to apply psychological principles to business problems. These skills are highly valued within the increasingly complex human environment of modern business.

This programme provides knowledge, skills and understanding of business and management, and the psychology of individual and group behaviour at work. The programme aims to equip future supervisors and managers with the theoretical base and practical skills to manage people and the dynamics of human interaction in the workplace. It also aims to develop students ability to deal effectively with people related issues within organisations and find practical solutions.

A theme which runs through the programme is the development of communication and thinking skills that are essential for personal and professional success, while specially designed courses help students to develop employability and jobseeking skills at the start of their career. During the final stage in the programme students will write an extended dissertation project, enabling them to develop specialist expertise in an area of interest within business psychology.

Career Opportunity

It is expected that graduates will aim for jobs as supervisors and managers in general business. In the current economic climate, graduates may have to start at a fairly junior level in an organisation, but you will be equipped with the skills and knowledge to put you in a strong position for promotion.

Many graduates also choose to pursue further study including a Master’s in Business Administration (MBA) or Master’s degrees in human resource management or international business.
