The programme is designed to provide students with the necessary knowledge and skills to pursue a future in various design specialisations.
Emphasising learning by doing, students are exposed to a dynamic environment that encourages practical learning through two-way interaction between students and lecturers. Learning also takes place beyond the classroom via design trips, industry interaction and site visits, competitions, and other activities.
This programme provides future design graduates with a stable foundation upon which to build their careers, in fields such as interior design, graphic design and multimedia design.
Strong Design Focus
- Students will develop competency in a range of drawing/visual skills and visual language, through studio-based instruction.
- Introduction to 2D and 3D perspectives of seeing, conceptualizing, designing, making and material analysis through modules like Fundamental Drawing, Principles of Design and 2-Dimensional Design.
- Participation in off-campus activities tied to modules like Creative Thinking Skills, Human Communication, Fundamental Drawing, and Introduction to Photography to gain problem-solving skills, analytical and creative thinking, as well as multidisciplinary knowledge. It also develops idea generation and the ability to visualize and communicate their ideas to an audience.
From Theory to Application
- Continuous assessments encompassing real-life simulations, group work, as well as field and study trips which encourage students to apply their knowledge.
Holistic Learning Approach
- A balanced teaching and learning approach that derives 70% of the final results from continuous assessments (e.g. quizzes, class tests, projects, oral presentations, group work, etc.) and 30% from the final exam.
Conducive Learning Environment
- Same access to the University’s facilities as undergraduate and postgraduate students, and able to contribute equally to the campus community.
- Opportunity to participate in Lecture Series and workshops conducted by local and international researchers, and industry experts, to keep abreast with the latest developments in the industry.

Entry Requirements
- Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) / O Level: Min. 5 credits including English and a pass in Bahasa Melayu and Arts or Visual Aptitude Test (VAT)
- Unified Examination Certificate (UEC): Min. 4Bs including English
- Other qualifications: Students with other qualifications will be considered on a case-by-case basis
