The programme provides students with the know-how and capability to design, develop, integrate and maintain all types of computer applications and systems, and devise new and better ways of using computer solutions and technology to benefit society.
Students will explore software development and all its related technologies, programming languages and models, data structures and algorithms, as well as innovation in the application of computer solutions and technology. Through this programme, students will also enhance their entrepreneurial, problem-solving, project management and teamwork skills, enabling them to develop effective solutions for real-world computing problems.
Specialised Skills in Computer Science
- Specialised skills in different programming languages as well as software design and development in general, enabling students to develop new solutions and applications using computers.
- Exposure to different computing languages, including UNIX, XML, C++ and Java, with modules like C Programming, Object- Oriented Programming using Java and UNIX Programming.
Learning from Experts
- Gain valuable industry exposure and keep abreast with industry practices via module adoption, expert talks, guest lecturers and project based module from the experts such as IBM Malaysia, Google Malaysia, Experian and Microsoft Malaysia.
Industry Engagement
- Opportunity to work on a real-world problems identified by the industry for assignments, projects or as a Final Year Project under the guidance of the industry members.
- Mentorship from industry experts in developing commercial applications, tools and/or services.
Integrated Professional Certification
- Option to take-up industry certifications as electives, such as International Software Testing Qualifications Board (ISTQB) as a Certified Tester, Malaysian Software Testing Board (MSTB) as a Certified Professional in Requirements Engineering, Oracle Database SQL Expert exam as an Oracle Database SQL Certified Expert and SAP Professional Training, thus qualifying students to sit for these exams.
Dynamic Internship Programme
- 12-week internship exposes students to the real working environment and provides in-depth knowledge in the field of computing.
Dual Award
- Students will receive equal recognition and certification from both Taylor’s University and the University of the West of England (UWE), UK.
Entry Requirements
- Taylor’s Foundation in Computing (FIC): Pass with min. CGPA 2.00 including credit in Mathematics at SPM
- Taylor’s Diploma in Information Technology (DIT): Pass with min. CGPA 2.50 including credit in Mathematics at SPM
- Sijil Tinggi Persekolahan Malaysia(STPM): Min. CGPA 2.67 in 3 subjects including C in Mathematics
- Unified Examination Certificate (UEC): Min. 5Bs including English
- A Levels: Min. CDD including C in Mathematics
- South Australian Matriculation (SAM): Min. ATAR 65 including B- in Mathematics
- Canadian Pre-University (CPU): Min. average of 65% in 6 subjects including 65% in Mathematics
- International Baccalaureate (IB): Min. 28 points in 6 subjects including min. 5 points in High Level (HL) Mathematics and min. 6 points in General / Business Mathematics
- Other Qualifications: Students with other qualifications will be considered on a case-by-case basis
English Requirements
- IELTS: Band 6.0
- TOEFL: 79 (Internet Based Test)
- MUET: Band 4
- UEC English: B4
- O Level: Grade C
- 1119 (GCE-O): Grade B
Students who have completed a full year preparatory / foundation study in English may be exempted from meeting the English requirements.
