The programme is equivalent to Part 2 of the Lembaga Arkitek Malaysia (LAM) Professional Examination, and is a full-time professional Master’s programme that centres on the advanced study of architecture. It takes on an integrated approach to learning architecture and adopts the teaching philosophy of ‘design as research’. It aims to develop well-rounded architectural graduates, leading to the development and application of appropriate solutions to encounter demands of the globalized and cross-cultural environments.
Students undertake a range of specialist and research-based studio projects supported by knowledge and application of technology and environment, cultural context, research, and professional practice to forge the position of ‘sustaining humanity’. Utilizing a design as research teaching pedagogy, the design studio forms the intersection of interests across three broad domains of inquiry, i.e. urbanity, community, and technology.
Research-Led Teaching
- A teaching pedagogy that is designed based on the theme “Research Informing Design”, where architectural design, being the core of architectural studies, is viewed as a creative intervention resolved through research-led activity.
Integrated Studies
- Apart from the design studio, the programme is supported by modules within the streams of research, cultural context, advanced and integrated technology and environment, as well as entrepreneurship and practice.
Global Perspectives
- Sharing of global experiences and architectural discourse within the architecture fraternity, through international exchanges in the areas of practice and research.

Entry Requirements
- Bachelor of Science or Arts in Architectural Studies / (Architecture): Min. CGPA 2.67 with LAM Part 1 recognition
- Other Qualifications Students with other qualifications will be considered on a case-by-case basis

- SPM or O Level, min. 5 credits in English and Mathematics

Note:Students who have completed a full year preparatory / foundation study in English may be exempted from meeting the English requirements.
