The Master of Cinical Dentistry programme offered is a clinical coursework programme in which the research component comprises less than thirty (30) percent of the whole programme of study.
Entry Requirements
Qualification for Admission:
A candidate must obtain:
Bachelor of Dental Surgery from University of Malaya or other recognised university.
At least TWO (2) years of post registration clinical experience
Language Requirement: English
Foreign candidates are required to:
Have at least IELTS Band 6 or TOEFL 550 if their first degree is from a university where English is not the medium of instruction.
Or
Pass an English proficiency test approved by the University.
Other Requirement:
Passed the assessment for admission which have been decided by the Faculty.
Programme Structure
This programme shall consist of three parts:
(a) Part I comprising instruction in Basic Medical Science subjects over a period of six (6) months.
(b) Part II over a period of thirty (30) months comprising of :
(i) General Dentistry
(ii) Information and Communication Technology (ICT), Research
Methodology and Biostatistics
(iii) Training in any one of the following specialities:
– Oral and Maxillofacial surgery
– Restorative Dentistry in Conservative Dentistry
– Restorative Dentistry in Prosthetics Dentistry
– Periodontology
– Child Dental Health
– Oral Medicine and Oral Pathology
(iv) Research component in the specialty option leading to the submission
of a research report.
(c) Part III comprising of a clinical attachment in the speciality option,in the Faculty of Dentistry,Unversity of Malaya or clinical training centre recognized by the University over a period of twelve (12) months.
