The programme is specially designed to meet the increasing needs of tourism and related industries such as airlines, travel companies, tour operators, recreation companies, event management companies and cruise ships.
Combining theory and practice, the programme equips students with both conceptual and analytical skills. The curriculum includes an understanding of business, culture and professional studies to prepare graduates for global employment opportunities.
Knowledge of Professional Tools
- Exposure to marketing tools used in the industry; and acquiring of knowledge and technical skills in airlines reservation and ticketing using Computerised Reservation System (CRS-Galileo) and planning and packaging process.
- Well-equipped tourism rooms custom-designed for tour packaging, sales, promotion and marketing for domestic and international tours.
Industry Insight
- Learn about ticketing and packaging, tour leading, customer service and event management.
- Develop and promote 2 tours (domestic and regional), which provide students with the opportunity to experience different cultures, recreation and places.
- Develop communication and customer skills, in order to cultivate service-minded graduates
- Exposure to introductory business studies such as Marketing and Accounting.
- Regular field trips and industry visits to tourism establishments.
Hands-on Exposure
- Opportunities to organise tourism related activities, World Tourism Day celebrations and other major tourism events through the Tourism Club.
- The opportunity to participate in Pacific Asia Travel Association (PATA) – Malaysia Taylor’s Student Chapter, a chapter involved in the personality development of students through forums, debates, and workshops to enhance the students’ managerial capabilities.
Real-World Experience
- 16-week internship in tourism retail companies, airlines, tour operators or theme parks to develop practical and relevant skills.
Flexible Further Study Options
- Advanced standing into Year 2 for Bachelor of International Tourism Management (Hons) (Travel and Recreation Management) or Bachelor of International Tourism Management (Hons) (Events Management).
Dual Award
- Students will receive equal recognition and certification from both Taylor’s University and the Académie de Toulouse, a division of the French Ministry of Education.
Entry Requirements:
- Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) / O Level: Min. 3 credits including a pass in Bahasa Melayu
- Unified Examination Certificate (UEC) : Min. 3Bs
- Other Qualifications : Students with other qualifications will be considered on a case-by-case basis
