The programme is designed to prepare students to create functional and dynamic interior spaces. Students acquire the knowledge and capabilities to become innovative designers, capable of critical thinking and effective design communication, applying their design abilities with an awareness of the relationship between people and their environments.
Students will develop an understanding of principles and practice of contemporary construction technology, and be instilled with capabilities such as space planning, creative problem-solving, communication and understanding of design issues, which will enable them to redefine interior spaces.
Ultimately, the programme aims to develop graduates who can apply design approaches to create dynamic interior spaces for a variety of requirements.
Strong ID Foundation
- Exposure to knowledge of interior design elements and emphasis on the relationship between space and their environments, via Interior Design Studio I – III and Final Project.
- Heightened sensitivity to contemporary trends, awareness of the latest developments, interior space applications and usage of different materials and finishes via modules such as Interior Behavioural Study, Interior Materials & Finishes and Environmental Science.
- Exposure to furniture design materials, detailing and manufacturing processes, human form and interaction factors.
Understanding of Construction and Building Technologies
- Develop understanding of the principles, practice of construction technology and application of construction and building via modules such as Building Construction and Building Services.
Learning Beyond the Classroom
- Valuable exposure through participation in field trips and industry site visits that enhance learning.
International Moderation
- The programme is moderated by staff from the Queensland University of Technology (QUT), Australia
Dynamic Internship Programme
- 7-week industrial training to develop practical and relevant skills for future employment.
Entry Requirements:
- Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM)/O Level: Min. 3 credits including a pass in Bahasa Melayu and Art or Visual Aptitude Test (VAT)
- Unified Examination Certificate (UEC): Min. 3Bs
- Other Qualifications: Students with other qualifications will be considered on a case-by-case basis
English Requirements
- IELTS: Band 6.0
- TOEFL: 79 (Internet Based Test)
- MUET: Band 4
- UEC English: B4
Students who have completed a full year preparatory / foundation study in English may be exempted from meeting the English requirements.
