The Communicative Holiday English Programme (CHEP) is designed for students wishing to learn English and be involved in a range of cultural, social and recreational activities.
This course offers students a great opportunity to learn English and experience Malaysia at the same time. Students will have full time intensive English classes from Monday to Thursday with excursions on Friday and a full day excursion each Saturday. Students are given the Sunday off to do their own activities. CHEP is offered between the months of June to August to coincide with the summer holidays.
To enroll in CHEP, students must also first sit for the placement test to determine their proficiency level in order to be placed at the correct level of study at CEL. Unlike IEP, CHEP follows a General English curriculum that has a heavy focus on listening and speaking, with light reading and writing tasks right from the Starter Level through to the Advanced Level. The ultimate goal of CHEP is to enable students to communicate fluently and confidently at the end of the programme. Fun and interactive activities would form the core of language learning in the classroom with role-plays, presentations, communicative language games and the like. There is no Independent Learning hour for CHEP students.
