The Bachelor of Nursing (Honours) is a 4-year (8 semesters) full-time programme. The programme focuses on basic sciences, theoretical and clinical courses, as well as courses in social sciences and humanities to support nursing theories. Competency-based learning is facilitated through guided inquiry, reflection and critical thinking in relation to nursing theories and evidence-based practices to provide safe, quality and client-centred care.

Upon successful completion of the programme, students are eligible to sit for the Malaysian Nursing Board Examination to be licensed to practise as a Registered Nurse.


The programme has full accreditation status from Malaysian Qualification Agency. The degree is recognised by Jabatan Perkhidmatan Awam (JPA) and is accepted by Nursing Boards of many countries.

Entry Requirements

Academic Requirement

  • UCSI Foundation in Science: CGPA 3.0
  • STPM: CGPA 2.5
  • A-Level: 3 principals in Mathematics and 2 pure science courses
  • National Matriculation: CGPA 2.5 (undertaking courses in Biology, Chemistry and Mathematics)
  • UEC: 5 credits (inclusive of Mathematics and a science courses)
  • International Baccalaureate (IB): 26 points out of 6 courses (including Chemistry, Biology, Mathematics)
  • Australian Year 12*: Overall score of ATAR 60% (undertaking courses in Biology, Chemistry and Mathematics)
  • Other Year 12 equivalent*: Overall score of 60% (inclusive of Biology, Chemistry and Mathematics)
  • Note: A minimum of 5 credits at SPM level is compulsory for Malaysians inclusive of credit in English, Mathematics and 2 science courses
    *To be reviewed by the University on a case-to-case basis to confirm eligibility

English Requirements

  • MUET Band 4
  • IELTS band 6.0
  • TOEFL score of 550 (written-based)

Minimum Entry Qualifications for Registered Nurses

  • Malaysian students
    • Diploma in Nursing or equivalent
    • Registered with Malaysian Nursing Board
    • Holder of a current Annual Practicing Certificate
    • Minimum 3 years work experience
    • MUET Band 3
  • International students (non-Malaysian)
    • Diploma in Nursing or equivalent
    • Registered with Nursing Board
    • Minimum 3 years working experience
    • IELTS band 6 or TOEFL score of 550 (written-based)
