This programme is designed to expose students to the technical and practical aspects of broadcasting, enabling them to develop in-depth knowledge in production.
Students are encouraged to explore, present and express their talent in creative work across a broad spectrum of broadcasting areas, including script writing, multimedia creation, video shooting and editing, audio recording, directing and producing programmes to inform, entertain or shape society at large.
Through this programme, students are provided with a balanced education in theories and production skills, enabling them to develop technical knowledge as well as hands on skills in the industry.
Sound Broadcasting Knowledge
- In-depth knowledge and understanding of the field of broadcasting that encompass new media, through modules such as Broadcast Performance, Audience Studies and Digital Storytelling & Poduction.
- Students are taught the production process, including conceptualisation of ideas to the production of the programme through modules such as Advanced TV Production.
- Develop independent learning and problem-solving skills through hands-on exposure in handling broadcasting equipment and software.
State-of-the-art Facilities
- Industry-standard facilities such as the audio & video editing laboratory, and audio recording & broadcasting studio, provide exposure to latest software and practical experience with relevant equipment.
- Students are trained to use the latest industry-standard software such as Final Cut Pro and Pro Tool.
Holistic Communication Studies
- Opportunity to broaden their knowledge in communication with the option to minor in advertising, journalism or public relations, enabling them to develop integrated
- With the Journalism minor, students will have the opportunity to explore different reporting styles and publications.
Valuable Internship Experience
- 10-12 weeks internship with advertising agencies, media agencies and marketing communication consultancies provide real life experience and understanding of the various job functions.
Dual Award
- Students will receive equal recognition and certification from both Taylor’s University and the University of the West of England (UWE), UK.
Entry Requirements
- Foundation in Communication: Pass with min. CGPA 2.00
- Diploma in Communication: Pass with min. CGPA 2.00
- Sijil Tinggi Persekolahan Malaysia(STPM): Min. CGPA 2.00 in 3 subjects and min. C for each subject
- Unified Examination Certificate (UEC): Min. 5Bs including English
- A Levels: Min. DDD
- South Australian Matriculation (SAM): Min. ATAR 65
- Canadian Pre-University (CPU): Min. average of 60% in 6 subjects
- International Baccalaureate (IB): Min. 24 points in 6 subjects
- Other Qualifications: Students with other qualifications will be considered on a case-by-case basis
English Requirements
- IELTS: Band 6.0
- TOEFL: 79 (Internet Based Test)
- MUET: Band 4
- UEC English: B4
- O Level: Grade C
- 1119 (GCE-O): Grade B
Students who have completed a full year preparatory / foundation study in English may be exempted from meeting the English requirements.
