Master in Project Management program helps students develop the ability to solve real-world management problems, and to exercise sound management judgment through practical application of project management concepts and skills.

The program objectives are:

• enabling students to develop and communicate project financial and performance objectives
• providing students with the skills needed to accurately plan project task, budget and resource requirements
• preparing students to effectively monitor, control and report project costs, schedules and quality/performance levels needed to meet targeted milestones and required levels of earned value
• equipping students with effective leadership skills for promoting a positive environment that will help motivate team members and resolve conflicts.

Entry Requirements

Normal Entry

• Honours degree in any field; OR
• Bachelor degree in any field with at least 2 years working experience.

Flexible Entry

• Malaysian Citizen AND
• Be at least 35 years old on 1st of January (application year) AND
• Possess STPM/HSC (minimum 1 principal) OR
• Recognised Diploma or equivalent AND
• Possess prior learning experience AND / OR knowledge relevant to the programme applied. AND
• Passed Flexible Entry Assessment;

Programme Structure

Core Courses

• Principles of Project Management
  The course discusses principles of project management and which are necessary to help project manager make effective decision. The course focuses on the application of project analysis and problems. Topics include planning, risk management, pricing and quality management
• Organization and Business Management
  This course is an introduction to an overview of key concepts in management and organization theory. Its goal is to enable participants to understand the manager’s role, constraints, levers and opportunities within complex organizations. It stresses the use of behavioral science based on research and the formulation of systematic diagnoses, which in turn will lead to specific courses of action.

  The purpose of the course is to introduce the students to the different aspects of organizational business management. As a clear understanding of management approaches is critical to effectively manage an organization. This course takes the perspective of a manager who needs to plan, organize, lead and control.

• Project Quality Management
  This course investigates the increasing use of projects to accomplish important organizational goals and the unique style of administration required to manage them. To illustrate and reinforce concepts, a variety of projects, organizational settings, and issues will be investigated. Special topics to be addressed include quality planning, quality assurance, quality control and quality and statistical process control.
• Project Risk Management
  The course will provide the student with the methods to systematically identify, analyze, and plan for managing risk and uncertainty in the course of planning and implementing projects.
• Contract Management
  The course discusses the management of contracts in a project. It covers contract strategy in terms of procurement and risk allocation, standard forms of contract, documentation, claims management, dispute management, and insolvency.
• International Project Management
  The course focuses on the management of international projects. It covers issues that arise in managing international projects such as the use of international standard forms, procurement strategies (including joint ventures), cultural differences, risk allocation, and project finance.
• Project Cost Analysis and Appraisal
  The course discusses project cost analysis and appraisal, which are necessary to help make effective decision in handling project. Topics include financial appraisal, valuation of benefits and costs, pricing issues and evaluating projects
• Safety, Health and Environmental Management
  This graduate course provides the student with the rationale for providing safe and healthy work environment for employees. These skills are needed to be able to work effectively in the area of human resources and employee development as well as industrial relations since workers have been provide by law with specific safety and health rights.
• Sustainable Construction
  This course gives summary on the construction industry which is rapidly changing environment to meet the new challenges ahead in many areas such as building designs, innovative use within the constraints of sustainability agenda. Students will be continuously updating their knowledge to be able to face challenge in the new era of sustainable construction.
• Change Management
  The course discusses change management which is important in today highly competitive market. The course focuses on the theory and practices of change management. Topics include process model of change, power, leadership and stakeholder management and managing reviewing and sustaining change.
• Case Studies in Project Management
  The course gives learners the opportunity to apply the project management theory to resolve the real life problem. The course focuses on the application of project management theory.

Specialised Project

• Master’s Project
  The Masters Project Paper is divided into two parts, Part I: Preparation of proposal should demonstrate your mastery of scholarship as well as applied knowledge in your chosen field. Part II: Carry out data collection, analysis and writing report of findings.
