Entry Requirements
For Local Students:
SPM or equivalent with 5 (five) credits in the following subjects:
compulsory credit in:
i. Mathematics;
ii. General sciences/Biology/Physics/Chemistry and
iii. Any other 3 (three) subjects
iv. At least pass in Bahasa Malaysia and English
For International Students and Local Students studying abroad:
GCE/0 Level or equivalent with 5 (five) credits in the following subjects;
compulsory credit in:
i. Mathematics
ii. General sciences/Biology/Physics/Chemistry and
iii. Any other 3 (three) subjects
English proficiency:
candidate should have IELTS (5.5)/TOEFL (550) paper based or equivalent.
Overview
The programme will take 3 years for full-time basis. This duration is inclusive of clinical attachment at designated clinic/hospital that has been identified by the MOH and endorsed by the Malaysian Nursing Board. Academic years will consists of two (2) long semesters that will commence in the month of january and july.

MJD 1143 | Nursing Practice 1 | This course will start with the concept and history of nursing and the Health Care system development in Malaysia.During this course, students will be nurtured towards an understanding on the principles of personal health and its relation to nursing in health and disease. Skill in the competencies, required for rendering effective basic clients care will be presented within the skill laboratories and mock ward activities. |
MJD 1242 | Nursing Practice 2 | This course is continuation of Nursing Practice 1.Designed to help students develop an ability to meet the basic health needs of clients with regard to nursing care.
During this course, students will be nutured towardsan understanding on the principles of personal health and its relation to nursing in health and disease. Skill in the competencies, required for rendering effective basic clients care will be presented within the skill laboratories and mock ward activities. |
MJD 1253 | Nursing Practice 3 | This course will educate students regarding the principles, knowledge and skills of pre and post operative care, wound care and also management of clients with inflammation, fluid and electrolytes disturbances and role of nurses in managing clients with intravenous therapy. |
MJD 2112 | Nursing care of clients with Gastrointestinal disorders | This course commences with the study of human physiological processes, followed by diseases and disorders of the gastrointestinal system.Students will relate and apply their knowledge of anatomy and physiology, pathophysiology and pharmacology, as well as medical and surgical management in caring for patients with these diseases and disorders.
The nursing process framework will be used to develop care plans that meet the physical, psychosocial, and spiritual needs of the clients. |
MJD 2123 | Nursing care of clients with Cardiovascular and Respiratory disorders | This course commences with the study of human physiological processes, followed by diseases and disorders of the cardiovascular and respiratory system.Students will consolidate.and applied their knowledge of anatomy and physiology, pathophysiology and pharmacology, as well as medical and surgical management in caring for clients with these diseases and disorders.

MJD 2152 | Nursing care of clients with Musculoskeletal and Geriatric disorders | This course will provide knowledge, skills and attitudes on nursing care of clients with altered musculoskeletal system, pre and post operative care management and preparation of clients undergoing diagnostic procedures. Students will also expose to the management of the elderly in the community. |
MJD 2213 | Nursing care of clients with Renal, Genitourinary and Endocrine disorders | This course commences with the study of human physiological processes, followed by diseases and disorders of the renal, genito urinary and endocrine system.Students will consolidate their knowledge of anatomy and physiology, pathophysiology and pharmacology, as well as medical and surgical management in caring for clients with these diseases and disorders.

MJD 2222 | Nursing care of clients with skin and Neurological disorders | This course will provide knowledge, skills and attitude to students on management of clients with skin, burn and scalds and nervous problems. Preparation of clients undergoing operation and management of post operative cases and preparation of clients for diagnostic procedures. |
MJD 2233 | Obstetrics and Gynaecology nursing | This course will covers knowledge and skills on obstetric managment: care of mother during pregnancy, prenatal and post natal, care of newborn babies, mother with high risk cases, obstetric emergency, dysfunction of reproductive system, and preparation of clients undergoing operation and management of post operative cases. |
MJD 2242 | Nursing care of clients with Eyes and ENT Disorders | This course will provide knowledge, skills and attitude to students on management of clients with Eyes and ENT problems, preparation of clients undergoing operation and management of post operative cases and preparation of clients for diagnostic procedures. |
MJD 2272 | Pediatric Nursing | This course is designed to help the students develop and understanding of the concept of child health, the trends in child care and the health problems of children. This will enable the students to meet the needs of the children, in health and sickness. Students also will be exposed to preparation of children undergoing operation and management of post operative cases. |
MJD 3113 | Community Health Nursing | This course will provide knowledge and skills on management of family health. Care of maternal and child health, immunization, child abused, home accidents, home visit and school health services, family planning, special children and health education. |
MJD 3122 | Emergency, OT and Critical Care Nursing | This course will provide knowledge, skills and attitude to students on emergency management, nursing procedures related to the cases, medico-legal, triage system and emergency team. Students will also expose to basic care of critically ill clients, operation room nursing and cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR). |
MJD 3142 | Mental Health Nursing | This course will provide students, knowledge and skills on concept of mental health, mental health services in Malaysia, legal aspect in admission of clients, mental illness, and nursing intervention. Students will also expose to mental health patient rehabilitation program, role of psychiatric nurse and giving health education to community on mental health. |
