Overview
The aims of the Diploma in Physiotherapy Programme at UNISEL is to nurture and produce knowledgeable, competent and confident Physiotherapy graduates, who are committed, dedicated, caring and capable of providing safe professional medical and health services.
Graduates with a Diploma in Physiotherapy obtain fundamental knowledge and skills on the use of physical approach in promotion, maintenance, and restoration of physical, physiological and social well being of the individual with difference in health status.
Physiotherapists who are most successful tend to be able to adapt to change on the latest physiotherapy knowledge and skills by creative thinking, clinical reasoning skills and evidence based practice.

MFD 1114 | Applied Anatomy for Physiotherapy | This module is a projection of basic anatomy of the lead in the field musculoskeletal, cardiorespiratory and neurology. Students are taught the skill of palpation and identification of anatomical structures and surface marking. Its aims to help and guide student make appropriate assessment and treatment |
MFD1124/1224 | Exercise Therapy 1 & 2 | The module provides students with the opportunity to develop therapeutic clinical skills that will ultimately prepare them for periods of Practice Based Learning. The students will be introduced to the theoretical concepts underpinning selected therapeutic skills and rehabilitative handling procedures as used in clinical practice. A combination of lectures, practical, case scenario simulations, directed and independent study will support student learning. |
MFD 2154 | Electrotherapy | This module provides and explained the theoretical and technical in the field of electrotherapy, including the introduction and application of electrotherapy modalities to the patients as appropriate. This include assessment and treatment of patients in various problem associated with pain and the use of various electrotherapy equipment. Electrotherapy modalities include cryotherapy, superficial heating, high frequency current, medium frequency current, low frequency current, ultrasound, phototherapy / light therapy, biofeedback and ionthoporesis. |
MFD 1253 | Kinesiology | This module conducted as a lecture, practical and tutorial. The mechanical principles in human movement discussed including force, lever system, friction, work, energy and power. Knowledge and comprehension on the effects of centre of gravity, posture, balance and equilibrium during movement and exercise are included in this course. Furthermore, joint movement and muscle work during common activities and normal phases of gait and some common gait deviation are also discussed. |
MFD 2123/2233 | Cardiorespiratory Physiotherapy 1 & 2 | These modules provide an introduction to the discipline of cardiorespiratory physiotherapy practice, the fundamental knowledge and skills underpinning clinical practice within this core area of physiotherapy. From a lay perspective of cardiorespiratory, the module will develop via a foundation of applied cardiorespiratory anatomy and physiology, to the physiotherapy management of the patient which having problem with cardiorespiratory condition. |

MFD 2113/2223 | Neurology Physiotherapy 1 & 2 | These modules provide an introduction to the neurology components including brain, spinal cord and peripheral nerves disorders in neurology physiotherapy practice, the fundamental knowledge and skills underpinning clinical practice within this core area of physiotherapy. From a lay perspective of neurology disorders, the module will develop via a foundation of applied neurology anatomy and physiology of the brain, spinal cord and peripheral nerves, to the physiotherapy management of the patient which having problem with neurology problems. |

MFD 3142 | Sports Physiotherapy | This module will provide the students with the knowledge, skills and understanding to work in the sporting environment and implement prevention of injury strategies, manage acute trauma and injury and rehabilitate the individual so that they can return to the chosen sport as an individual participant or member of a team. It will also equip the individual to work as a physiotherapist travelling with a team in either a single or multi-sporting environment. |
