  • The electrical and electronics engineering program prepares students for highly competitive, national placement in electrical and electronics engineering employment and graduate education by providing a thorough grounding in electrical science and design, together with a foundation in mathematics, basic sciences and life skills.

KED 1112

Electronic Workshop This is a practical session which is to expose student to electronic component and symbol, circuit design, pattern transfer, etching process, drilling and soldering technique, safety procedure and trouble shooting of circuit. The final work is to construct a single sided printed circuit board according to the specifications on a circuit diagram.
KED 2113KED 2223 Circuit Theory ICircuit Theory II This course provide the understanding of the basic concept of electric circuit, identify and analyse the circuit by using various ac and dc analysis techniques and theorem such as Ohm’s Law, Kirchoff’s Law, nodal, mesh analysis, superposition, source transformation, Thevenin’s and Norton’s Theorem and also maximum power transfer. Analyze First order circuits RL and RC using source free and step response circuit, second order circuit and understand the concept of two port network in admittance parameters.
KED 2234 Analog Electronics The course will equip the candidate with the knowledge such as symbol, characteristic, basic operation and function of the Semiconductor Diode, Bipolar junction Transistor, Field Effect Transistor and Amplifier
KED 2123 Digital Electronics Describe and explain fundamental elements of digital electronics circuit especially data representation. Identify the Boolean Algebra and describe the basic structure of logic gates. Apply the logic gates into combinational circuit and know its implementation. Identify the characteristics and analyze the sequential circuit. This course focuses on the three important concepts in digital system; data representation, combinational and the medium scale integrated (MSI) circuits and application of the flip-flops in a sequential circuits.
KED 3223 Power System This course focuses on the fundamental and principle of three phase system that covers power generation, high voltage transmission and fault characteristic. Describe and compute various features of a real power, reactive power and complex power in single-phase and three-phase. Identify and apply Per-Unit method in three phase system. Identify and explain Power System Faults. Identify and describe Symmetrical Components and sequence Network. Explain and differentiate Transmission line parameter and Transmission line model
KED 2133 Communication System Identify and discuss the principle and characteristics of Amplitude Modulation, Frequency Modulation and Pulse modulation in communication system. Explain the operations of practical communications system
KFD 2223 Computer Programming Computer systems and its software component related to translation system, high-level language program by utilizing C logical structures, syntax and grammar, principles of Array and Matrices, Pointers and Data Structure
KED 1212 Electrical Workshop Define safety aspects in domestic and industry wiring, type of cables, connection and testing. Describe and apply the latest IEEE wiring regulation and acts of Energy and Gas Commission assessment. Apply practical knowledge to understand the roles and duties of building services supervisor. Apply, analyze and design simple power distribution system
KED 2213 Signal & System This course focuses on the concepts of different type of signals and systems, and the application of various mathematical tools (Solution of LT Differential and Difference equations using method of undetermined coefficient, Laplace, Fourier). To analyse and synthesise linear continuous and discrete time dynamic systems.
KED 2243 Microprocessor This course provides to identify and describe microcomputer components and microprocessor architecture, write and analyse microprocessor programming using assembly language technique also explain microprocessor operation including data transfer and arithmetic instruction. Describe and explain an interrupt and subroutine process in microprocessor. While in lab session, write and analyse assembly programs and employ functions on the microprocessor and demonstrate the interfacing of microprocessor system with the external module
KED 2253 Measurement & Instrumentation To equip the candidates with the knowledge of measurement concepts in engineering, general treatment of instruments and their characteristics and also the measurement of actual physical variables like force, torque, temperature, velocity , acceleration etc., along with their sensors and transducers and signal conditioning circuits.

Computer Architecture This course covers basic computer architecture, logic circuit, central processing unit, number system, computer arithmetic, memory operation and I/O module. Besides, it also relates all the functions using Operating System (O.S.) with the entire computer system.

Data & Computer Network The concepts and techniques that are developed in this course will constitute a foundation for data and networking in electrical and electronic engineering. KED 3133

Digital Design Digital design consists of fundamental and knowledge of basic principles of digital system which are Digital-to-Analogue Converter (DAC) and Analogue-to-Digital Converter (ADC) , memory and storage, microcomputers and microprocessors. Analyze simple Programmable Logic Device (PROM,PAL,PLA,GAL) and Field Programmable Gate Arrays (FPGA). Design the combinational logic circuits using Boolean expression and truth table techniques, design the sequence circuits using finite state machine (FSM) and algorithmic state machine (ASM) and design the digital system circuit using VHDL.
