This programme provides students with thorough and rigorous learning of principles of economics and their applications in the context of business organizations. With globalisation, graduates who are equipped with knowledge of business economics, information technology, management principles, law and statistics will be able to seek gainful employment in banks, financial institutions and commercial organisations.
It is designed to:
- Equip students with skills and knowledge necessary to conduct research using scientific methods to evaluate and recommend appropriate solutions to solve economic issues.
- Produce graduates with the requisite knowledge and skills which will enable them not only to build a career relating to economics in the public and private sectors but also to be self employed.
- Produce graduates who possess positive and ethical values as well as essential soft skills necessary to take on changing and challenging roles in order to meet the current market demand.
- Produce graduates with a solid grounding in the field of economics which will motivate them to pursue careers in a wide variety of settings or continue to postgraduate studies and lifelong learning.
Minimum Entry Requirements:
- STPM with minimum 2 full passes in the relevant subjects
- A-Levels with minimum 2 passes in the relevant subjects
- South Australian Matriculation (SAM) with minimum Tertiary Entrance Rank (TER) of 70 and at least Grade B in 2 relevant subjects.
- Canadian Pre-University (CPU) with minimum average of 70% for 6 relevant subjects
- Unified Examination Certificate (UEC) with minimum Grade B in 5 relevant subjects
- Foundation in Arts (Track A),TAR UC
- Foundation in Science TAR UC
- Relevant Foundation from other Institutions of Higher Learning
- Relevant Matriculation Certificate, Ministry of Education
- Relevant Diploma, TARC / TAR UC
- Relevant Diploma from other Institutions of Higher Learning recognized by the Malaysian Government
- Other equivalent qualifications accredited by MQA
- AND
- At least a Credit in SPM Mathematics or equivalent.
- At least a Credit in SPM English Language or equivalent OR Grade B in AELE0364 English Language (1119 Level) conducted by TAR UC.
Career Prospects
Graduates of Bachelor of Economics (Hons.) can seek employment as assistant economist, assistant researcher, administrative officer, banking and finance officer, financial analyst etc.
