The programme will train, educate and prepare knowledgeable personnel to work in the nation work force with the direct focus to make Malaysia an innovative high income society. Graduates will be well trained in semiconductors, IC design, embedded systems and computing which are important knowledge/skills to support the E&E sectors.
The curriculum of the programme has been designed to meet the demands of the ETP. Students are trained in analogue and digital electronics, application specific IC and field programmable array, IC Design to design integrated circuits from front end to back end using current professional tools. These knowledge and skills will be important for the setting up of fabless design firms under the ETP. To complement the microelectronics content of the programme, students are also trained in embedded systems design with emphasis on latest microcontrollers like ARM, real time operating systems, RTOS, latest and in-depth programming skills. These knowledge and skills will be sought after by design houses/companies in automation, robotics, identification and monitoring, test and measurement, solar, LED,and consumer electronics.
Note: This Programme is a Bachelor of Science Degree, not Bachelor of Engineering Degree
Minimum Entry Requirements
- STPM with minimum full pass in Physics and Mathematics
- A Level with minimum Principal pass in Physics and Mathematics
- South Australian Matriculation (SAM) with minimum Tertiary Entrance Rank (TER) of 70 and at least Grade B in Physics and one Mathematics subject.
- Canadian Pre-University (CPU) with minimum average of 70% for 6 relevant subjects including minimum 70% for Physics and one Mathematics subject.
- Unified Examination Certificate (UEC) with minimum Grade B in 5 relevant subjects which must include Physics and Advanced Mathematics (I or II). Grade C in English/minimum Grade C in AELE0364 English Language (1119 Level) ** conducted by TAR UC.
- Foundation in Science (Track A), TAR UC.
- Foundation from other Institutions of Higher Learning
- Relevant Matriculation Certificate, Ministry of Education
- Relevant Diploma, TARC/TAR UC. Diploma in Science (Microelectronics with computer Communications), Diploma in Science (Microelectronics with Automatic Control) and Diploma in Science (Microelectronics & Physics).
- Relevant Diploma from other Institutions of Higher Learning recognised by the Malaysian Government
- Other equivalent qualifications accredited by MQA
- At least a Credit in SPM Mathematics or equivalent.
- At least a Pass in SPM English Language or equivalent OR Grade C in AELE0364 English Language (1119 Level)* conducted by TAR UC. OR
- O Level Grade D in Mathematics and Grade E in English Language.
