The National Defence University of Malaysia or Universiti Pertahanan Nasional Malaysia (UPNM) was gazetted on 10th November 2006.
It started with the formation of ATMA on 1st June 1995 as an organisation which is responsible in providing study programmes at the Foundation and Bachelors Degree level as well as military training to ATM Cadet Officers.
Experienced in handling study programmes at the Bachelors Degree level for eleven (11) years which was from 1995 to 2006 through a collaboration programme between The Ministry of Defence and Universiti Teknologi Malaysia.
Has produced 1017 graduates majoring in three fields including Engineering, Science and Management.
Programmes include in the field of Science, Defence Technology and Literature.
The Academic Management Division was formed in 2007 which is simultaneous with the formation of UPNM. From its early formation, this division has been placed under the supervision of Registrar Office and then placed under the Office of the Deputy Vice-Chancellor Academic & International and now placed under the supervision of Registrar Office
