Physiotherapy is a healthcare profession that focuses on human functional movement as core to health and well-being of people of all ages. Physiotherapists maintain and restore maximum movement and functional ability through health promotion, preventive healthcare, treatment and rehabilitation. Physiotherapy management is performed through movement and specific exercises, manual therapy, education, advice and other interventions. Physiotherapy undergraduate program at Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia is a four year honours degree program.
The programme curriculum incorporates theory, practice and research based components to develop core skills, knowledge and evidence based treatment for physiotherapy practice. Subjects include anatomy, physiology, cardio respiratory, musculoskeletal, neurology and special topics in physiotherapy. Clinical placement at various clinical settings is an essential part of the curriculum to integrate class room theory to practical applications.
