Programme Description
This field of study is to promote the study of the production, distribution and reception of texts, of their linguistic, rhetorical and literary structures and functions, and of internal and external forces that create literature in English Language. The programme aims to fulfil the needs of graduates who are interested in furthering their studies in Linguistics and English Language Studies.
The programme prepares students for entrance into the profession as both teachers and scholars.
Candidates who join this programme have the option of choosing part-time or full-time status to suit their personal and work schedule.

Admission Requirements
Applicants should possess the following:
PhD
• A Master’s or Bachelor’s (First Class Honours or CGPA ≥ 3.67/4) degree in a related area.
• Degree awarded by local private institutions of higher learning including those awarded under any collaborative/franchising schemes with local or international partners must be accredited by the Malaysian Qualifications Agency (MQA).
Language Requirement
(Applicable for International Applicants Only)
• A minimum score of 550 in Paper- based TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language); or
• A minimum score of 213 in Computer-based TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language) ; or
• A minimum score of 80 in Internet-based TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language) ; or
• A minimum score of 6.0 in IELTS (International English Language Testing System)
• Results must be attached with the application form.
