PROGRAMME OVERVIEW
The Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) is the highest degree awarded by the university, and requires the conduct of an original research project and the writing and defense of a dissertation. The Ph.D. is designed to train students for roles as researchers, educators and administrators through a program of research and scholarly activity.
PROGRAMME STRUCTURE
The Ph.D degree is offered by Research mode only, i.e. full research leading to the submission of a thesis.
Currently, candidates are only required to take a Research Foundations course during their first semester of enrolment. However, students may be required to attend other courses, as prescribed by the faculty.
Research is the core of the Ph.D program. All candidates are required to carry out an original research project, leading to the submission and defense of a thesis

Other areas of research may be considered, depending on the expertise available in the faculty. Interdisciplinary research is allowed. Students are also welcome to propose their own topics.

The faculty may also consider for admission a person who possesses a Bachelor’s degree with distinction (CGPA 3.7 and above, or its equivalent), subject to the monitoring of the candidate’s progress, and the presentation of a research seminar.

DURATION OF PROGRAMME
The minimum time period for the Doctor of Philosophy degree is 4 semesters. While the maximum period is 12 semesters.
