The programme contribute to the progress of sports medicine field by increasing students’ knowledge and understanding of sports medicine and providing them with the opportunity to both enhance and expand their skills.
This program aims to provide students with the clinical knowledge and skills in sports medicine. Emphasis is given on the preparation of the student for the prevention, supervision, assessment and rehabilitation of athletic injuries, along with the variety of requirements involved with the successful operation of sports medicine programmes at various levels.
Entry Requirements
General requirements
Degree of Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery from the University of Malaya or an equivalent medical qualification approved by the Senate;
And
At least one year of post-registration clinical experience approved by the Senate.
Other requirements
Qualifies for registration as a medical practitioner under the Medical Act 1971 (Act 50) of Malaysia;
And
Satisfies the Department’s requirement in an Entrance Evaluation recognized by the Faculty.
Language Requirement
Foreign candidates are required to:
Have at least IELTS Band 6 or TOEFL 550 if their first degree is from a university where English is not the medium of instruction.
Or
Pass an English proficiency test approved by the University.
Programme Structure
This Master’s programme, offered by the Faculty of Medicine, requires candidates to fulfill both coursework as outlined by the department, and clinical duties as assigned. Successful completion of the programme is also subject to the standards set by the Faculty.
