Radiology is directing medical imaging technologies to diagnose and sometimes treat diseases. Originally, radiology deals mainly in translating x-ray images into diagnosis for the patients. However, the technological advances of today enable the experts of this field to utilise other state-of-the-art equipment, such as ultrasound, computed tomography (CT) and magnetic resonance imaging to better diagnose and treat diseases.
As the world today is on the wavelength of rapid growth in both universal and personalised medicine, developments in molecular biology will also signify the highly probable increase in the demand for more accurate diagnosis and personalised therapy. This programme will address that demand by providing graduates who are able to combine the latest radiological technology with the optimum patient care standards that is the trademark of UM’s excellence in medicine.
Entry Requirements
General requirements
Degree of Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery from the University of Malaya or an equivalent medical qualification approved by the Senate;
And
At least one year of post-registration clinical experience approved by the Senate.
Other requirements
Qualifies for registration as a medical practitioner under the Medical Act 1971 (Act 50) of Malaysia;
And
Satisfies the Department’s requirement in an Entrance Evaluation recognized by the Faculty.
Language Requirement
Foreign candidates are required to:
Have at least IELTS Band 6 or TOEFL 550 if their first degree is from a university where English is not the medium of instruction.
Or
Pass an English proficiency test approved by the University.
Programme Structure
This Master’s programme, offered by the Faculty of Medicine, requires candidates to fulfill both coursework as outlined by the department, and clinical duties as assigned. Successful completion of the programme is also subject to the standards set by the Faculty.
