The Master of Medical Science is a broad-based degree designed to allow students to pursue research topics in a range of areas and disciplines within the scope of Medical Science.
The practice of medicine unites both science as the evidence base and art in the application of this medical knowledge. It also fuses technical knowledge and theories with intuition and clinical judgement.
The programme aspires to nurture compassionate physicians and scientists who are not only educated to exhibit high ethical principles and technical aptitude, but are committed to the care and well-being of all people.
Entry Requirements
(1) The degrees of Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery or the degree of Bachelor of Dental Surgery of the University; or
(2) The Bachelor of Science in the relevant field of the University and a CGPA of not less than 3.0 (or its equivalent); or
(3) An equivalent qualification approved by the Senate from time to time; and
(4) Evidence of adequate training and ability to undertake the Degree programme of study; English Language Requirement
International candidates are required to:
Have at least IELTS Band 6 or TOEFL 550 if their first degree is from a university where English is not the medium of instruction.
Or
Pass an English proficiency test approved by the University.
Duration of Study
(1) The minimum duration of study shall be two (2) semesters.
(2) The maximum duration of study shall be eight (8) semesters.
Programme Structure
(1) This programme is a research programme leading to the submission of a dissertation and the format is as provided in the University of Malaya (Master’s Degree) Rules 2010 and University of Malaya (Master’s Degree) Regulations 2010.
(2) Where the Faculty deems it necessary a candidate may be required to follow or follow and pass such course or course(s) as determined by the Faculty.
