This program replaces the Master of Business (by research).
The Faculty of Business and Design offers the master degree by research and thesis on a full-time or part-time basis. Graduates who hold a bachelor degree and who have shown a high standard of academic achievement in that course may be admitted to candidature for the degree of Master of Commerce. The higher degree courses currently available require the presentation of a major thesis based on original research, investigation or development work providing that adequate facilities and supervision can be arranged.
Note that international student visa holders can only be offered the full-time course.
Masters students generally undertake their formal and supervised research training. A major thesis is the sole form of assessment for this award. Candidates carry out a program of research, investigation or development involving the submission of a substantial major thesis embodying the results of that program and presented as a coherent whole work.
Applicants should have at least a bachelor’s degree or the equivalent in a discipline appropriate to the proposed area of study. The level of academic achievement in prior studies must be of a high standard. Other relevant activities including work experience will be taken into account in assessing applications.
Full and partial scholarships are available for eligible students.
The duration of a full-time Masters by Research is based entirely on the presentation of a major thesis to the satisfaction of the University’s Higher Degrees Committee.
