Overview

Foundation programmes enable students to complete degree programs in a shorter time period compared to conventional routes. The programme is carefully designed to focus on the academic areas most useful to your future study intentions.
The curriculum development and assessment are monitored by qualified academic advisors from reputable universities and industries to assure its quality.
The foundation in science is specially created for students who are interested to further studies in the field of life sciences and physical sciences.
In addition to emphasizing strong fundamental knowledge in core subjects such as mathematics, chemistry, physics, and biology in order to prepare students for their studies in degree programmes, this programme also provides special emphasis on building students’ interpersonal and communication skills including their language skills in English.
Foundation in science is a 12-month programme conducted in 3 semesters. Each semester consists of 13 weeks of lectures, tutorials, lab-works, and visits. Students need to accomplish minimum 50 credit hours to complete the programme.

FMA 1313	Elementary Mathematics I	This subject covers real number system, indices, surds and logarithms, inequalities and absolute values, functions, polynomials, arithmetic and geometric progression, matrices and systems of linear equations, coordinate geometry and conic sections, and trigonometry.
FKA 1323	Elementary Chemistry I	Review of basic principles in chemistry, introduction to atoms concept, electron structure in atom, periodic table, chemical bonding, study of matter and kinetic properties.
FFA 1114	Elementary Physics I	This subject covers physical quantities with mathematical concepts applied in physics, vectors, kinematics motion with free fall and projectile motion. Other topics are impulse, momentum, collision, Newton’s Laws, static equilibrium, properties of matter, and energy.
FFA 1121	Physics Lab I	Involve ten experiments which related to measurements, vectors, velocities, simple pendulum, projectile motion, Newton’s 2nd Law, conservation of momentum and kinetic energy, Hooke’s Law, and Young’s Modulus.
FKA 1221	Chemistry Lab I	Involve ten experiments which related to measurements, stoichiometry, concentration, periodic table chemical properties, gas law, thermochemistry and kinetic.
FUA 1332	Introduction To Biology	The course covers the study of cells which include structure and functions in eukaryotic and prokaryotic cell, animal and plant cell and also the use of microscopes.The other topics are the biomacromolecules such as carbohydrates, lipid, protein and nucleic acid related to structure and functions, cell transportations, the human and plant cell specialization. It also includes the topics of chemical reactions based on enzymes mode of action, properties and enzymes inhibition, the photosynthesis in terms of chemical equation, biochemistry, factors that affect its rate of photosynthesis and comparison with respiration, then the aerobic and anaerobic respiration occur in human and plants.
IXA 1124	Intro. To Computer & Application	The student will be exposed to the basic Microsoft software application such as Microsoft Word, Excel and Power point. As an additional, they will also learn about the basic knowledge of computer application and internet use.
ZEU 1113	Proficiency English I	This course will expose students to the basic grammatical accuracy and also will acquire the necessary language skills to communicate effectively. The elements covered are parts of speech, strategy in learning vocabulary, skills in reading and writing, and also skill in listening.
FMA 1313	Elementary Mathematics II	The course covers the basic concept of limit, continuity and differentiation, integration is an inverse of differentiation, the basic techniques of integration involving logarithmic, exponential, and trigonometric functions, application the differentiation and integration
FKA 1323	Elementary Chemistry II	The course covers the parts of the equilibrium concepts, the properties of acids and bases, the criteria that enable precipitation, the single component system, ideal and none ideal curve, the Redox reactions, Galvanic cell and Electrolysis cell, the functional groups and its representative reactions and also radioactive reactions.

FUA 1332	Basic Genetic And Biodiversity	This course covers the partss of basic genetic and biodiversity that involves.
IXA 1213	Introduction To Information System	This course covers the basic programming in computer and information system.
FFA 1323	Elementary Physics II	This subject will describe the basic concepts in electricity and magnetism which covers the topics of electrostatics, capacitors, electrodynamics, magnetism, electromagnetism and electron emission.
FFA 1221	Physics Lab II	Topics covered are related to the theoretical part of electricity and magnetism from Basic Physics II. The student will do ten experiments which related to resistance in circuit, internal resistance, resistance capacitance, electromagnetic field
ZEU 1223	Proficiency English 2	This course is the continuous part of the first English course in order to strengthen the grammatical accuracy and skill to communicate in written or spoken among student. It covers higher level of speech, linear and non-linear texts, writing essay, listen effectively and respond appropriately and participate in discussion and conversation
JMA 1113	Communication Skills	The subject discussed tend to explore some significant areas related to communication field such as planning organization culture, management strategy and decision making communication, workforce diversity, organisation change and development and also teamwork.
FUA 1324	Basic Anatomy And Physiology	The course covers the topics of the differentiate and describe the feeding mechanisms of organism by referring to its nutrition intake, the respiration mechanism in mammalian and plant, the role of haemoglobin in respiration transportation and stomata reaction in plant, the anatomy of the heart, blood composition and plant transportation system, the body coordination which include neurons, nerve impulses, autonomic, nerves system and drug abuse, the chemical coordination which includes human endocrine glands and hormones, hormone mechanism and plant hormones, basic immunology such as body defence mechanism, antigen and antibody, lymphatic system and AIDS, the animal and plant reproductive system, the human and plant development process, types of growth, measurement and analysis of growth data.
FKA 1333	Elementary Chemistry III	The course covers the parts of the organic chemistry which includes of topics hydrocarbon, halo-alkaline, hydroxyl compounds, carbonyl compound, carboxylic acids and polymers.
FMA 1133	Elementary Statistics	This subject covers on introduction of statistics, descriptive measure of central tendency and variation, probability, discrete and continuous random variable and probability distribution for discrete and continuous random variable
FFA 1113	Elementary Physics III	This subject will cover several topics which area not included in Basics Physics I and II. It includes topics on heat and thermodynamics, theory of gases, wave, light, and modern physics.
