The Doctor of Philosophy (Medical Sciences) is a multidisciplinary programme involving extensive research and scholastic activities. The programme by research provides unique educational experiences through the development of an individual towards knowledge, skills, ethical judgment and professionalism in the specific field of study. A clear focus in scientific enquiry and evidence based research is emphasized in the delivery of the programme to address the demands and challenges of the various areas in Medical Sciences.
This programme accommodates the requirements of not only graduates who wish to obtain an in-depth study through research, but also candidates with related work experiences who are keen in continuous learning and upgrading their knowledge in an appropriate area of Medical Sciences on a full or part time basis

The research-based postgraduate programme encompasses research conducted under appropriate supervision with the objective of training candidates in research methodology, critical thinking and evaluation of the research work carried out. The research topic must relate to the discipline in which it falls under. The programme is delivered in the form of a major research component and a final assessment in a form of a thesis displaying original and critical thought, worthy of scholastic publication.
