Interior Design is essentially a problem-solving discipline. It is a creative solution to space. This multi-disciplinary process integrates art and technology and relates it to the built-environment.
Interior Design enhances surroundings; improves functionality; deals with physical and psychological needs; addresses aesthetic values and style; and reconciles art with practical functionality.
The aim of the Diploma in Interior Design is to provide an opportunity for students to study a wide range of design processes and develop their technical skills and problem solving sensibilities to appropriately carry out interior design projects.
The course emphasis is on the acquisition of skills to analyse design problems and produce conceptual solutions to achieve practical goals in relation to human needs.
Design project work is the core of the course. It enables skills to be practiced and integrates knowledge acquired in each of the specialised areas.
