Programme Description

This diploma program in Culinary Arts prepares students with a hands-on approach for entry-level employment in various food-service positions. Students in this program will learn fundamental skills in culinary arts as well as food preparation methods, food safety & sanitation, food presentations and more. Culinary Arts has come a long way from its humble beginnings, it is now a creative arts with knowledge of nutrition and food safety. A chef is no longer a back-of the- house personnel but very much in the forefront with the rest of the other management professionals.

From food preparation to nutrition, knife sharpening to presentation, this program prepares students for kitchen jobs such as first cook, line cook or prep cook. Instructors will also give students a practical hands-on knowledge of the food service industry with live demonstrations in a professional environment.

In addition to culinary skills, students of this program also receive training in business communications, customer service, and other business aspects of the food-service industry.

Upon graduation, students are well-equipped to the many food-service positions. They have a solid understanding of the kitchen dynamics and possess skills to pursue careers in the culinary arts field. With the fast growing popularity in luxury cruising tourism it is envisaged that the demand for professional culinary chef will be high.

Minimum THREE (3) Credits;  in SPM, Senior Middle 3, O-Levels or its equivalent.
