GENERAL OBJECTIVES
To become an excellent community health center in meeting the community needs in term of providing teaching and learning programmes for health care providers in relation to public health and community health disciplines at the certificate, diploma, undergraduate and post graduate level.
SPECIFIC OBJECTIVES
- To establish smart partnership between UNIMAS, ministry of Health, other government and non government agencies, private enterprises and NGO in providing the model, appropriate facilities and services at a rural health care unit level for student’s learning.
- To establish training programmes in public health and community health disciplines for medical students, nursing students, public health students and other health-related students at the undergraduate and post graduate level.
- To provide opportunities and plan for staff development in management, teaching, providing service, consultancy and research.
- To establish, implement and evaluate the indicator and criteria for staff productivity and achievement.
- To provide services to the community through health education activities, short courses, workshop, seminar, conference and contribution in the continuing medical education programmes.
- To provide consultancy services in terms of programme planning, implementation and evaluation, short courses and workshop and research.
- To conduct research that could enhance knowledge and competencies in teaching and services.
- To disseminate information on health, teaching experiences and research findings through participation of staff in the local, national and international seminars and publication in the local, national and international journals.
EDUCATIONAL OBJECTIVES
At the end of the training, the graduates should be able:
- Identify and analyze health problem at the level of the individual, family and community.
- Manage the health problem holistically though appropriate curative and preventive measures.
- Lead and participate as an effective member of a health care team.
- Respect the client’s religion, moral values, culture and tradition.
- Compile and analyze data in the respective health care setting to be used in the health care management.
- Participate regularly and present papers in the medical and health conferences.
- Publish articles in the local and international journals
- Explore potentials for advanced public health courses.
- Accept that medical education is a long life process.
