Fieldwork with a laboratory or community health organisation and professional training are also built into your course. This means a wide range of career prospects both in Malaysia and overseas.
A special feature of the degree is its specific development for the Malaysian context. The course provides you with an understanding of medical bioscience in a tropical environment, with a particular focus on techniques in tropical medicine.
The course commences with a foundation year, covering biology, biotechnology, chemistry and statistical reasoning and analysis. You also study a wide range of topics specific to medical bioscience and undertake a professional attachment to a clinical or medical laboratory. Every subject is tailored to meet the specific demands of our region and we make sure you leave with a sound understanding of ethics.
Khatijah Khalilur Rahman says the course is “mentally stimulating and challenging, enabling me to grow as a student, but still allowing me enough free time to engage in social and extracurricular aspects of my life.”
