Overview

  1. Bachelor in Information Technology programme is a vocationally oriented programme emphasizing the resolution of technological problems leading to the effective management and analysis of information in both private and public sectors.
  2. The programme’s foundation is designed to provide students with knowledge and skills in key areas of IT as well as professionally relevant knowledge, qualities and skills in such areas as problem solving, communication, ethics and teamwork.
  3. Ultimately, the programme will produce students who can respond, anticipate and lead change.
  4. Students are required to attend an internship programme to apply theory into the business world.

Industrial Computing (IC)
Course Code Course Synopsis
ITS4133 CAD CAM System The usages of computer technologies in producing engineering products have been successfully applied starting from the conceptual design to the actual manufacturing. The combination between the computer-aided design and manufacturing system with the computer numerical control machine has assisted in realizing the execution of computer-integrated manufacturing concept. This integration enables the machining process to be performed automatically and reduces time, cost, and energy as well.
ITS4153 Manufacturing Planning & Control System The production system is the collection of people, equipment and procedures organized to accomplish the manufacturing operations of a company. Production system can be divided into two categories those are facilities and manufacturing support systems. The facilities of the production system consist of the factory, the equipment in the factory and the way the equipment is arranged. The latter is the set of procedures used by the company to manage production and solve the technical and logistics problems encountered in ordering materials, moving work through the factory and ensuring that products meet quality standards. Product design and certain business functions are incorporated among the manufacturing support systems.
ITS4143 Automation Manufacturing The contents of course embrace four main parts, namely manufacturing systems, automation and control technologies, material handling technologies, and manufacturing support systems. The manufacturing systems are systems functioning to execute one or more processing and assembly operations on raw materials and work parts. These processing and assembly operations are carried out by using automation technologies without human interventions. The automation technologies such as robot and programmable logic controller are implemented through the programs incorporated with the control systems to perform the instructions. The material handling technologies are material movement, storage, protection, and control technologies encompassing manufacturing and distribution processes such as conveyor, automated storage and retrieval system, forklift, and automated guided vehicle. The material handling must be done safely, efficiently, on cheaper cost, punctually, on correct quantity and location, and free of failure. The final part is the manufacturing support systems referring to computerized systems applied to manage the production and solve logistical and technical problems such as warehouse management system, logistics management system etc.
ITS4123 Total Quality Control Total Quality Control also called Total Quality Management, is an approach that extends beyond ordinary statistical quality control techniques and quality improvement methods. Through Quality Management it involves flows such as process, information material and flows of funds. It implies a complete overview and re-evaluation of the specification of a product, rather than just considering a more limited set of changeable features within an existing product. If the original specification does not reflect the correct quality requirements, quality cannot be inspected or manufactured into the product. For instance, the design of a pressure vessel should include not only dimensions, but also operating, environmental, safety,reliability and maintainability requirements, and documentation of findings about these requirements. In this course, students wil be able to solve problems using TQM tools and be aware of the customer concept in the all production, service and public sector.
ITS4113 Production Operation Management Operations management is an area of business that is concerned with the production of goods and services, and involves the responsibility of ensuring that business operations are efficient and effective. It is also the management of resources, the distribution of goods and services to customers, and the analysis of queue systems. Efficient implementations of the operations can improve performance, reduce development effort, and improve software quality.

IAS3143 Data Mining & Data Warehouse The course covers the techniques and technology applies for data mining and data warehousing in order to find hidden data. Exploration process and identification of data warehouse components shall help student to understand how IT Manager and Database Administrator can support Business Manager in identifying patterns of data to be used to generate business opportunities.
ITS4243 Knowledge Management System This course is to introduce the concept of knowledge management. Within this context particular attention will be given to knowledge, and knowledge management life cycle.
ITS3233 Business Intelligence Business intelligence (BI) refers to technologies, applications and practices for the collection, integration, analysis, and presentation of business information. The purpose of business intelligence is to support better business decision making. This course provides an overview of the technology of BI and the application of BI to an organization’s strategies and goals.
ITS4223 System Information Strategic Planning Strategic Information System Planning (SISP) is the basis for making information technology (IT) and development decisions. This course presents a systematic approach to achieving this. Students will learn how to derive information strategy and plans from their business/ organisational needs. Students will also learn how to develop a common information architecture that can be used to jump start development projects. The ISP project plan identifies a schedule of projects, defined to support all levels of needs.

  • Private Sector: The amount of basic starting monthly salary can vary from the above amount. However, the total amount of monthly salary earned (inclusive of allowances) is subject to negotiation and which can be higher than that earned in the public sector.
