This program is structured with a comprehensive of basic bioscience subjects such as Anatomy, Physiology, Biochemistry and Microbiology as well as Pharmaceutical Technology, Medicinal Chemistry, Pharmacology and Clinical Pharmacy. The curriculum also includes elective subjects such as geriatric pharmacy, veterinary pharmacy, drug modelling, pharmacoeconomics and alternative medicine. In addition to the technical subjects, students are also required to enrol in University courses in the humanities and English. Industrial and hospital training is also an integral part of the programme.

Basic Structure

  • Year 1 – Students will be exposed to basic communications and English courses as well as Year 1 – basic bioscience subjects.
  • Year 2 – Students will proceed to technical subjects and compulsory subjects in this year.
  • Students will take combinations of advance level courses and undergo industrial Year 3 – pharmacy training.
  • Year 4 – Students will also have to undergo clinical pharmacy training in hospital.

 

Upon successful completion of the University programme, graduates have to undergo pupilage for 12 months in a government or private hospital or any pharmaceutical industry or pharmacy retail outlet recognized by the Pharmacy Board of Malaysia, they also have to attach to the government hospital for stipulated time and also pass the Forensic Examination conducted by the Board before they are allowed to provisionally register and practise in the country.
Assessment
Assessment is a combination of written examinations, industrial training and reports or presentations on project work.

Minimum Entry Requirements

A-Levels Grades B,B,B in 3 subjects including Chemistry.
STPM CGPA ≥ 3.0 including Chemistry
AIMST / Other Foundation in Science** Grade B,B, B in 3 subjects including Chemistry with a minimum CGPA = 3.0
CPU / CIMP / Canadian Grade 12/13 Aggregate ≥ 65% in 3 science subjects including Chemistry and 2 of the following subjects Mathematics, Physics or Biology
SAM Average score 14 in 3 science subjects including Chemistry and 2 of the following subjects Mathematics, Physics or Biology
UNSW Foundation CGPA ≥ 3.0 in 3 science subjects including Chemistry and 2 of the following subjects Mathematics / Physics / Biology
CIMP / Canadian Grade 12/13 Aggregate ≥ 65% in 3 science subjects including Chemistry and 2 of the following subjects Mathematics, Physics or Biology
Science Matriculation CGPA ≥ 3.0
Diploma in Science/Pharmacy CGPA ≥ 3.8
International Baccalaureate Min score of 33 points
NSW HSC CGPA ≥ 3.5 (Grade B, B, B in 3 science subjects including Chemistry)
Indian Pre University / HSC / SSC Aggregate 80% in 3 science subjects including Chemistry and 2 of the following subjects Mathematics, Physics or Biology and another subject
Bangladesh HSC Grades A, A, A in 3 subjects, including Chemistry (A: 70-79%)
Degree Science-based undergraduate degree with CGPA ≥ 2.75 ( Note: CGPA 2.75 = Grade C+ )
UEC B4 or 70% aggregate in 5 subjects including Chemistry, Mathematics, Physics, Biology and another subject. Must pass Bahasa Malaysia.
Other Qualifications Will be assessed and referred to MQA for approval on case by case basis.

** SPM: At least grade B4 or B in the following subjects – Maths, Additional Maths, Chemistry, Physics and Biology.
Must obtain a pass in Bahasa Malaysia & English.

Interview:
All eligible applicants are required to attend an aptitude test and interview (to be conducted by AIMST University)
