For hundreds of years, civil engineers have contributed to the health and welfare of society. Roman viaducts and roads, the Suez and Panama canals, the Eiffel tower, the Channel Tunnel and London Eye are just a few of the thousands of great civil engineering accomplishments. Whether it be in design, construction or management, civil engineers provide innovative and technical abilities that will ensure a projects success. Civil Engineering is a profession that makes a ‘real’ contribution to society.
Engineering has been taught at the University of East London for over 100 years. It has developed programmes that are current and will give you the opportunity to develop your understanding and skills. With a large proportion of laboratory and practical work, students will reinforce the theories and practices learnt in the classroom with ‘hands on’ experience. This programmes offer you the opportunity to study the fundamental knowledge and theories required by all Civil Engineers and apply these to the practical work environment.

Varies from module to module but will include examinations, coursework, project work, laboratory reports, time constrained and open book assignments and tests on competence in practical sessions.

The main intakes are conducted in September, January and May of each year.
Entry Requirements
Any one of the following qualifications:
- Pass STPM / GCE ‘A’ Level with 2 principals or its equivalent with minimum Grade C (CGPA 2.0) in Mathematics and ONE (1) relevant Science subject AND pass SPM or its equivalent with at least pass in English;
- Pass relevant Foundation/ Matriculation / Diploma / HND programme from other PHEI with Standards Minimun certified or Accredited with CGPA ≥ 2.0*;
- Recognised Diploma in Engineering or Engineering Technology or its equivalent with minimum CGPA 2.0*;
- Recognised related Vocational and Technical / Skills Diploma with minimum CGPA 2.0 AND pass in English at SPM level*;
- Pass SMIII (UEC) with minimum 5Bs including Mathematics*;
- Other equivalent qualification recognized by Malaysian Government*;
- Other equivalent foreign qualification recognized by Malaysian Government*.

English Language Requirements
(For international students only)
All international students from a country in which English is not used as the medium of instruction in formal education are required to meet the following English language requirements:
- Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL): minimum score of 550 (PBT) or 213 (CBT) or 79 – 80 (iBT)
- International English Language Testing System (IELTS): minimum overall Band 6.
- Malaysian University English Test (MUET) : minimum Band 6.
