|The BDS programme is a professional course to educate and train students to become dental practitioners. The course uses a modern approach to dental education emphasising student-centred learning. It is based on the best educational practices in dental schools in Malaysia and overseas, conforming to international standards.

||Much of Year 1 is devoted to the study of the biomedical sciences (Anatomy, Physiology and Biochemistry) which provide a foundation for the study of clinical dentistry. Students will also be introduced to the dental profession and common oral health problems
||The clinical subjects of Conservative Dentistry, Prosthetic Dentistry, Periodontology and Applied Dental Materials are introduced. Time is spent in Year 2 learning practical clinical skills and basic dental techniques in the simulation laboratory and dental technology laboratory. Supporting courses in Pathology, Microbiology, Pharmacology, Social and Behavioural Sciences and Communication Skills are held
||During Year 3 students learn to examine, diagnose and treat their own patients in a multidisciplinary polyclinic in the campus-based AIMST University Dental Hospital. Learning in the Year 2 clinical subjects continues along with the introduction of Oral Surgery and Orthodontics. Supporting courses are held in Medicine, Surgery, Oral Radiology, Oral Pathology, Oral Medicine, Health Promotion & Preventive Dentistry and Law & Ethics
||Many treatment procedures are practised in all the clinical disciplines in Year 4. The discipline of Paediatric Dentistry is introduced. Teaching is given in Community Oral Health and in dentistry for the elderly and special needs patients. Further learning is undertaken in Oral Pathology and Oral Medicine
||Clinical practice in all aspects of dentistry continues with practical experience in Community Oral Health. Dental Practice Management is taught to prepare students for work in general dental practice. Learning continues in Oral Surgery with students participating in the management of in-patients requiring complex oral and maxillofacial surgery procedures
|Professional examinations are held at the end of each year. A system of continuous assessment runs throughout the five years of the BDS course. Progress is measured by means of written and practical examinations, practical work in laboratories, clinical work, problem-based learning tutorials and project work.Duration

||• 6 subjects, including 3 Science subjects with at least 2 subjects at Higher Level.
• Higher Level subjects should include Biology with at least 5 points in each subject.
• Total points should be a minimum of 32, excluding bonus points.

(A: 75-100; B+: 66-74; B: 57-65; C+: 50-56; C: 45-49; D: 40-44; E: 35-39; F: 0-35).
|Bangladesh HSC / SSC
||Grades A, A-, A- in 3 Science subjects*, including Biology
||Science-based undergraduate degree with CGPA ≥ 3.0
||Will be assessed on a case by case basic. Referred to MQA for approval on a case by case basis.

Must obtain a pass in Bahasa Malaysia & English.The English Language Requirement:

Prior to admission, students are required to undergo a medical examination to ensure that they are in good health and free from any communicable disease.
Additional Requirement from MMC:
A person with any of the following shall be disqualified from entry into a medical programme:
- found guilty of offence(s) affecting the human body; and / or
- recent or serous dishonesty e.g. cheating at examination, falsification of documents, plagiarism; and / or
- serious physical or mental illness; and / or
- serious communicable disease(s)
